About Pheasant Ridge Municipal Golf Course

Pheasant Ridge is one of Cedar Falls' two municipal courses, along with Walter's Ridge, and it's tucked between Highway 57 and West 12th Street. It's a par 72 on 159 acres of rolling ground, with maturing trees and water, and the course says water, sand and large greens are what define it. From the blue tees it's 6,805 yards; the yellows play 6,565, and there are forward sets at 5,604 and 5,413. It has been irrigated since 2005.

The Iowa Golf Association lists it as founded in 1972. The course lists more than the 18: a nine-hole par 3 course and an executive nine, a 30-stall range with targets out to 250 yards (the metal one at 50 yards is called the doink), a wedge range, a chipping green and practice bunker, and a big putting green. The concession stand is known for burgers and its beastie bites, and the clubhouse seats 180 for events.

It's one of 11 courses Yoink watches in the Waterloo & Northeast Iowa area, and the closest alternative is Irv Warren Golf Course, about 5 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
