About Irv Warren Golf Course

Irv Warren sits in Byrnes Park, established in 1908, and it's Waterloo's oldest golf course. The city runs it as part of Golf Waterloo. It's a regulation 18 and a comfortable walk, with undulating fairways and a wind that changes its mind.

It's a parkland course in the true sense: the map survey has trees along 17 of the 18 holes and water near nine of them, counting two ponds that the city notes are home to geese, great blue herons and nesting ducks. There are about 41 bunkers and seven doglegs, so position matters more than power. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.

It also gets some real competition. The Waterloo Open plays its Pro-Am here, and 192 professionals play their one-day qualifying shoot-out at Irv Warren.

It's one of 3 courses in Waterloo on Yoink, and South Hills Golf Course is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
