About Rend Lake Golf Resort
Rend Lake is a 27-hole public course on the shore of the lake it's named for, two minutes off I-57 and about 90 miles from both St. Louis and Evansville. E. Lawrence Packard designed it, and it opened in 1976. The Rend Lake Conservancy District runs it, and it's open to the public.
Expect wide fairways, mature trees, fountains and very big greens; the district bills them as the largest in the Midwest, so the lag putt is the shot to practice. Three nines mean you'll play two of them on any given day, and the rotation changes what you get. There's a lighted driving range and two practice greens.
The golf is the center of a small complex: Seasons Lodge and condos you can drive your cart right up to, Buck and Bass Cabins, Birdies restaurant and sports bar, and a banquet hall for 200. Stay-and-play packages run year-round.
