Weibring Golf Club

Illinois State's course since 1964, rebuilt in 2000 by alum and tour winner D.A. Weibring. Home of Redbird golf and a U.S. Amateur qualifier every year.

About Weibring Golf Club

Weibring is Illinois State's course, on campus at Gregory and Adelaide streets: 6,915 yards, par 71. It's the home course for the Redbird men's and women's teams, but it's open to the public and handles about 30,000 rounds a year. It hosts a U.S. Amateur qualifier and the IHSA Class 2A boys state finals every year, and it has held six Missouri Valley Conference championships and the 2004 Women's NCAA Regional, so expect it set up with some teeth.

Robert Bruce Harris designed it in 1962 as a regulation nine around the outside of the property with a shorter executive nine in the middle, and President Robert Bone hit the first shot in May 1964. It closed for the 2000 season while D.A. Weibring, the most accomplished golfer in Illinois State history with five PGA Tour and five Champions Tour wins, rebuilt it through his firm Golf Resources, Inc. The university renamed it for him in September 2007. More recently every bunker was redone, along with the golf shop, locker rooms, pavilion and the first tee.

It's one of 22 courses Yoink watches in the Peoria & Central Illinois area, and the closest alternative is Hazy Hills Golf Course, about 10 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
