About Sunset Hills Golf Course

Sunset Hills sits in the middle of the Sunset Hills neighborhood in Pekin, a locally owned course that anyone can play. The ball-golf course is a par 71 of 6,722 yards from the back, with four sets of tees, and the ground is a mix of rolling hills and flat stretches. There is a driving range to warm up on, and the Sunset Hills Eatery is right by the first tee.

It started out as something more exclusive. Sunset Hills opened in 1960 as a private club with an executive nine, a swimming pool and a members clubhouse. In the early 2000s the pool was filled in, the executive nine was shut and the course opened to the community. About ten years later two local owners bought it and reworked both the course and the clubhouse.

The old executive nine got a second life. After years of growing into woods, it became a disc golf course in 2014, and a longer layout soon followed that shares part of the ball-golf routing. Since 2017 it has been the women’s (FPO) feature course at the Ledgestone Open, and it was used at the 2019 PDGA World Championships. The course still hosts major disc golf tournaments every year, so check the calendar before you go.

It's one of 2 courses in Pekin on Yoink, and Parkview Golf Course is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
