About Cherry Island Golf Course
Cherry Island is one of Sacramento County's three 18-hole courses, just north of the city in Elverta, par 72 from every set of tees. Robert Muir Graves designed it in 1990. He was a past president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, worked on more than 800 courses in a 50-year career, and wrote two books on course design, including Classic Golf Hole Design.
It's dead flat: the map survey finds only about 9 feet between the high and low points. Flat doesn't mean easy, though.
