About El Rio Golf Club

He was Pete Dye's nephew and the lead shaper on many of his uncle's courses, and the club says several features feel like Pete's work. It's a par 72 on 175 acres, with four sets of tees from 5,362 to 7,143 yards, and you can see the Black Mountains to the east and the Spirit Mountains to the west from every hole.
The fairways roll gently, but the greens are fast and undulating, and water is in play on four holes. The 2nd is the number one handicap, a 467-yard par 4 from the tips that doglegs right over trees. The 13th is a 477-yard par 4. The club makes a lot of its finish: the 16th is a long par 3 whose green it compares to Augusta National's 16th, the 17th is a 542-yard par 5 with a waste bunker and a waterfall-fed lake down the whole left side, and the 18th is a long par 4 with a lake left of the green.
The name nods to the region's Spanish history and the river. The mission-style clubhouse has a dining room, bar and patio, and the range has five target greens from 100 to 290 yards plus chipping and putting areas.
