About Birch Ridge Golf Course
Birch Ridge is a nine-hole course on the Kenai Peninsula, right off the Sterling Highway and near the Kenai River, and it gets plenty of anglers who fit a round around their fishing. Tom Smith built it in the early 1970s on rolling hills, with water and bunkers in play. There are separate tee boxes for the front and back nines, so going around twice for 18 doesn't mean playing the same holes the same way.
It's a small, easygoing place. The pro shop sells beer, wine, hot dogs and sandwiches, and you can take them out to the deck. There's a driving range and a disc golf loop, and there's lodging on site. Scores posted here count toward your Handicap Index through the Alaska Golf Association.
Alaska's golf season is short. The state association says it's packed into about five months, so the summer tee sheet matters here.
