About Lozano Golf Center
The main course here is the Blue Heron, the City of Corpus Christi's par 72 that stretches to 7,027 yards from the back tees. There's water on most holes, but the landing areas are wide and the layout is open, which helps when the Gulf wind picks up. Leon Howard designed it in 1965 and Finger Dye Spann renovated it in 1983. The center is named for Gabe Lozano, its original owner, and Foresight Golf manages it for the city.
The other draw is the Firefly, the old executive nine rebuilt from scratch by Arthur Schaupeter with Musco LED lights, so you can play it after dark. The range got the same treatment in 2024: lights, 50 hitting stations, a short-game area with two chipping greens and bunkers, and an 11,000-square-foot putting green.
It's one of 13 courses Yoink watches in the Rio Grande Valley & Coastal Bend area, and the closest alternative is Northshore Country Club, about 8 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
