Hidden Hills Municipal Golf Course

Ray Hardy's 1990 course has over 100 feet of slope, deep valleys and a creek through the back nine. Bentgrass greens, too.

About Hidden Hills Municipal Golf Course

The name is the point. The course calls itself Pampa's secret, a few miles north of town on Highway 70, and it drops into over 100 feet of slope, with deep valleys and a creek winding through the back nine.

It's a par 71 with four sets of tees, from blue down to red at 4,900 yards. The greens are bentgrass, and the fairways and tees are bluegrass. Golf Digest gives it three stars, and the Dallas Morning News named it the 4th best economy course in Texas in 2014.

Ray Hardy designed and built it, and it opened in 1990 as a group effort: private donations and volunteers, Gray County and the City of Pampa all chipped in. The city owns it today, and it says more than $10 million has been spent in Pampa by golfers from outside the county since it opened. There's a practice area with two big tees for 25 players, a chipping and putting green, a snack bar and lessons.

It's one of 7 courses Yoink watches in the Amarillo & the Panhandle area, and the closest alternative is Borger Country Club, about 28 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
