About Mirimichi Golf Course

Mirimichi is a big, demanding course on 300 acres just north of Memphis. From the Black Rock tees it's 7,479 yards, par 72, with a 77.0 rating and 147 slope, and the course itself says accuracy matters more than length: deep pit bunkers, elevated greens, native grass, creeks and waterfalls, and large, undulating greens. The good news is the five to eight tee boxes on every hole. Blue Sky plays 7,019, Gold Sun 6,447, White Sand 5,690 and Red Clay 5,072, so pick the set that fits your game rather than the card's headline number.

It used to be Big Creek Golf Course, and before that Woodstock Hills Country Club. Justin Timberlake grew up playing it, and his mother and stepfather held their wedding reception there. When it came up for auction in 2007, Timberlake's group bought it for $880,000 and put about $16 million into an eco-minded rebuild. It opened as Mirimichi in the summer of 2009 and became the first U.S. course named an Audubon Classic Sanctuary, and the first in the Western Hemisphere certified by the Golf Environment Organization.

Spring 2010 floods in northern Shelby County damaged it, and the owners used that to rebuild many fairways, greens and bunkers before a Labor Day 2010 reopening. The Timberlake family sold it in 2014 to a local group, Three Star Leasing, led by Fred Edmaiston.
