About The Jewel Golf Club
The Jewel is three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin's course in the river bluffs above Lake City, and it covers a lot of ground: 800 acres of the Mississippi River valley. The routing goes through varied terrain, and it's bentgrass wall to wall, tees, fairways and greens. From the back it's 7,050 yards, but there are five sets of tees, so pick the one that fits. It's an Audubon International member course.
It opened in 2005 and has become a regular stop for state events: the MGA Players' Championship in 2017 and 2018, the Senior State Open and MPGA Public Links in 2019, the Minnesota Women's State Open in 2020, the MGA Senior Four-Ball in 2022 and the MGA Amateur Four-Ball in 2024. It made Golfweek's Best Public Courses list in 2021 and was Golf Advisor's Best of State course in Minnesota in 2020.
There's a three-stage practice facility (the range opens 30 minutes before the first tee time, and balls aren't included in the green fee) and the Bluffside Bar and Grill, open to the public, with a terrace and patio.
