About Enger Park Golf Course
Enger Park is Duluth's city course, up on a high bluff just south of downtown, and the views are the reason people bring friends: Duluth Harbor and Lake Superior spread out below. The land, on a hill once called Grand Mountain above the West End, was bought with money that furniture dealer Bert Enger gave in 1921, and the course was built in 1927. Enger Tower went up in the park in his honor in 1939.
It's 27 holes in three par-36 nines, Skyline, Bridge and Tower, each between 3,168 and 3,359 yards, so you'll play two of them for your 18. The course describes them as parkland, links and traditional in style. Some holes cut through thick woods, and others work around ponds and bunkers. There are four sets of tees.
There's a full driving range, a chipping and putting green, lessons, and a snack bar that serves breakfast every day. The course says it helped Golf Digest name Duluth a Best City in America for Public Golf.
