About Avondale Golf Club
Avondale sits by Hayden Lake, and it's a tree-lined, bending course: the map survey counts 16 holes with trees along them, 13 doglegs (8 left, 5 right), water on 5 holes and 44 bunkers, with about 90 feet of elevation change across the property. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.
The hole locals talk about is the 2nd, a 140-yard par 3 with water and sand around it. Head pro Taylor Porter's advice to SWX: there's a pond short right and a big bunker in front, so take half a club more and don't come up short.
The ground was a horse racing track in the early 1900s. The club was incorporated in 1963 and had 18 holes by 1971. A $2 million renovation in the mid-1990s reworked the layout and the irrigation, and the clubhouse was expanded in 2011. It's a private club that also takes public play, per the Coeur d'Alene tourism bureau, and the Avondale Bar and Grill has a full bar and menu for after the round.

What it's like to play Avondale Golf Club
There's real elevation change: some holes rise or fall about 90 feet from tee to green. You'll carry water off the tee or into the green on 4 holes. 13 of the 18 holes bend, so position off the tee matters more than length.
