About Scotch Pines Golf Club
Scotch Pines has been Payette's public course since 1962, set in the rolling foothills of southwestern Idaho about 60 miles west of Boise, right on the Oregon line. It's par 72 and 6,605 yards from the blue tees, with white, yellow and silver sets that bring it down to about 4,500. The course calls itself very walkable, so carrying your bag is a real option.
The quirk you'll notice on the course map: an airstrip runs through the middle of the property, and it's marked out of bounds, with holes 11, 12 and 15 through 17 laid out around it. It has hosted a number of statewide events over the years.
It's open all year, with the gates open from 6:30 a.m. to dusk, and the pro shop keeps 10 to 5 hours through the winter. There's a range, a short-game area, lessons with the pro, and a bar and grill.
