About Gillette Ridge Golf Club
Gillette Ridge is an Arnold Palmer design on Cigna's headquarters land in Bloomfield, and it opened to the public on July 30, 2004. It's named for Francis Gillette, a 19th-century reformer and politician whose house still stands on the property. Palmer routed it around streams, lakes and mature trees, and the club talks up the carries. The map survey backs that up: water sits near seven holes, two make you carry it, four run along moving water, 16 are tree-lined, and there are 61 bunkers on ground with about 40 feet of relief. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.
It has a tournament resume for a young public course. From 2005 to 2008 it hosted the LPGA Futures Tour's Cigna Golf Classic, and it later held a qualifier for the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship. Travel and Leisure put it on its Ten Best New Public/Resort Courses list in 2004, Northeast Golf ranked it the top public course in Connecticut in 2018, and Golfweek included it in its 2020 Best Courses You Can Play state-by-state list.
Heads up for late 2026: the club started the second phase of a bunker restoration on September 14, and the back nine is closed for the rest of the season while the work is done.
It's one of 51 courses Yoink watches in the Southern New England area, and the closest alternative is Wintonbury Hills Golf Course, about 2 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
