About Poppy Ridge Golf Course
This is the Northern California Golf Association's own course, and it's open to anyone. The NCGA added it in 1996 as its second course, and Rees Jones built it as a 27-hole, inland-links-style spread over rugged ridges and valleys, with the wind to match. It played 85,000 rounds in its first year.
In May 2025 it reopened as something new. Jay Blasi rebuilt it with an entirely new routing: an 18-hole par 72 that runs 7,010 yards from the Orange tees (72.7 rating, 129 slope) down to 4,225 from the Greens, plus The Ridge 9, a family-friendly nine next door. The NCGA wanted a course that could host its championships and still be walkable, and the setting is golden, savannah-covered hills with vineyards just past the property line.
A few holes get talked about. The short par-4 6th is loosely modeled on the 12th at Waverley in New Zealand and finishes in a punchbowl green. The 16th tee is the high point of the property, with long views in every direction, and the hole is a drivable par 4 to a peninsula green at the end of a ridgeline. Warm up first: the range has 1.25 acres of grass tees, a 6,000-square-foot chipping green with two bunkers and a 17,000-square-foot putting green.

Tee times for the 18 open 90 days out (30 days for The Ridge 9), online or through the Golf Shop at (925) 447-6779. Cancel more than 48 hours ahead, or you pay the full green fee; the course says the rule is strictly enforced. Posted non-member rates for the 18 are $150 Monday to Thursday and $175 Friday to Sunday, plus $25 per rider for a cart; NCGA members pay $70 and $100, which makes the membership worth a look if you'll play it more than once. Twilight starts at 3 p.m. March through October and 1 p.m. November through February. Youth on Course members play The Ridge 9 for $5, booked by phone.
