About Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort - Legend Course
The Legend is the older of Tahquitz Creek's two courses. It started life as the Palm Springs Municipal Golf Course: William Francis Bell, the designer of Torrey Pines, drew it in 1957 as a nine, and the back nine came in 1959. It's a traditional country-club layout that winds through neighborhoods about as old as the course, with fairway trees more than 50 years old.
Arnold Palmer Golf Management added 40 bunkers in 1996, and the map survey now counts about 58, with water near four holes and only about 13 feet between the high and low points, so it's flat. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data. Four holes play across or through the Palm Canyon Wash, and the San Jacinto range fills the background.
From the championship tees it's 6,815 yards (72.4 rating, 125 slope); the whites are 6,504, the yellows 6,210 and the reds 5,551. The course's own notes warn about one short par 4 where the green slopes hard from back to front, so stay below the hole, and they call the last few holes a tough finish. The resort has a 50-stall grass range, a chipping green, two big putting greens and the Traditions Cafe.
